Founded in 1985, Stormking has evolved into the UK’s leading manufacturer of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) components for the building and construction sectors. For 37 years, Stormking has acquired market leading knowledge in GRP manufacturing and design, allowing for the development of ideal high strength-to-weight ratios across its GRP product range. All components are manufactured off-site by Stormking, enabling its external partners to work more efficiently and productively whilst improving safety on-site.

Since its inception, Stormking has grown exponentially from a team of just ten members, to a manufacturing complex spread across 500,000sq ft and five sites with around 350 employees. In 2019 it opened its own state-of-the-art Training Academy and Innovation Centre. This growth has enabled Stormking to create a strong, robust infrastructure which is dedicated to the constant development of its products and the provision of high-quality customer service.

Dedicated departments

Due to its size, Stormking has been able to create dedicated departments to both better support its customers and further develop its product offerings. Stormking’s Technical and Design Department work to ensure products continue to be market leading; the Scheduling Team project manage orders and deliveries; the Regional Sales Team are on hand to provide information and guidance to customers throughout the UK; and the Aftersales Department ensures the highest quality of service and support is available throughout a project. Stormking has created an infrastructure which follows its products from conception to customer, and beyond.

Site support

Unlike its competitors, Stormking employs a dedicated, specialist Site Service Team which is available in the unlikely scenario that a product is damaged on site. By assessing and repairing the product on site, the Site Service Team is saving customers both time and money by mitigating the need for replacements.

The creation of the Site Service Team is an example of the importance Stormking places on customer relations and confidence. Despite its size, Stormking has ensured commitment to its customers is front and centre of every business process and, together with product quality, is at the core of its company ethos.

ISO certifications to provide customer confidence

Another demonstration of the importance Stormking places on customer confidence is its commitment to maintaining its ISO standards.

Stormking possesses the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Certificate 2021 – 2024, the world’s most recognised quality management system standard, and the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Certificate 2022 – 2025, an international standard which specifies the requirements for an environmental management system.

Both certificates are aiding Stormking in its determination to deliver only the highest quality products, manufactured in the most sustainable way possible. However, they are also important for Stormking customers. Stability provided by the Epwin Group

In addition to an established infrastructure and ISO Certificates, Stormking’s place within the larger Epwin Group provides even further peace of mind to its customers.

Epwin Group is one of the UKs largest manufacturers of extruded, low maintenance, energy efficient building products, from windows and doors to decking and fascias. Stormking became part of the group in 2016 and since then has benefited from cross functional support in technical and operations, as well as the financial stability which comes from being part of a larger organisation.
