We’ve recently been awarded two Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for our insulated and uninsulated product ranges. These certifications further establish our commitment to environmental performance and sustainability.
Operating sustainably is central to everything we do at Stormking. These latest EPDs underscore our ongoing dedication to improving our environmental credentials, as Ralph Rea, Quality and Compliance Manager at Stormking, explains:
“Sustainability has been a fundamental part of our business for many years, influencing every decision we make, from product design and manufacturing to delivery and beyond.“
Ralph adds: “As the industry increasingly focuses on the environmental impact of materials, it is vital that our customers have reliable information about the origins and sustainability of the products they use. Our EPDs provide this essential data in a transparent and accessible format, ensuring customers have the evidence they need to validate our products’ sustainability credentials.“
Ralph concludes: “Both EPDs are the result of our team’s hard work and dedication, highlighting our strong commitment to the collective industry goal of achieving a net-zero carbon future.“
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is based on data gathered through a product’s Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Its purpose is to communicate the environmental performance and impact of a product in a clear, transparent, and accessible way. EPDs enable a wide range of stakeholders to make more informed decisions when specifying and procuring GRP products for housebuilding.
EPDs are becoming increasingly important in the construction industry as the market moves towards greater self-regulation. They provide assurance about a product’s carbon footprint and demonstrate the manufacturer’s commitment to reducing environmental impacts.
We have observed growing demand from customers such as local authorities, housing associations, and private developers, who are striving to meet sustainability goals and deliver greener built environments. These stakeholders often request EPDs for developments to help meet their environmental responsibilities.
As the only UK GRP manufacturer currently holding EPD certifications, we can now provide tangible evidence of our products’ environmental impact and tell our sustainability story.
BRE, our EPD provider is the most recognised and largest UK provider of EPDs.
