Who are Stormking?
Founded in 1985, Stormking has evolved into the UK’s leading manufacturer of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) components for the building and construction sectors. Over the past 37 years, Stormking has developed market leading product and industry knowledge. This has allowed for the development of the ideal high strength to weight ratio requirements for its range of building components, all of which have been specifically designed to be light weight yet extremely strong, stable, and durable. All components are manufactured off-site by Stormking which is enabling industries to work more efficiently, whilst increasing both productivity and safety.
Pioneering approach
Since its inception, Stormking has grown exponentially from just one site housing 10 team members, to over 500,000sq ft spread across five sites with around 300 employees – and in 2019 it opened its own state-of-the-art Training Academy and Innovation Centre. It is this innovation, together with the company’s heritage, that has made Stormking a pioneer in the manufacture of GRP components.
Stormking’s revolutionary off-site modular construction approach is helping to reinvent the building and construction industries. The delivery of fully or partially constructed components to a site is not only increasing the speed of construction, but it is also making the installation process easier and safer.
Despite attaining market leading status in terms of both its manufacturing processes and the quality of its products, Stormking never rests on its laurels. The company is constantly looking at ways it can further improve its manufacturing methods or product compositions. This continuous quest for perfection is reflected in the industry accreditations the company has garnered since its creation.
Quality without question
Stormking is the only GRP manufacturer to hold BBA certificates across its entire product portfolio. The BBA, British Board of Agrément, has been providing authoritative and independent information on the performance of building materials, products, and systems for over 50 years. The certificates awarded by the BBA contain important data on durability, installation, and compliance with UK Building Regulations, providing the construction industry with the crucial information it needs for specifying only the highest quality products.
Stormking has been awarded the BBA accreditation since 2006, for its bay window canopies and dormers, confirming its products have been manufactured in compliance with all National House Building Council (NHBC) regulations and standards.
Stormking has worked hard to maintain the excellence demanded to achieve this independent quality assurance mark and can attribute its success to the knowledge and dedication of its team.
Over the past 37 years, Stormking has built a highly knowledgeable, skilled, and committed team. With specialists across every facet of the business, from product design, manufacturing and technical development to customer service and sales, Stormking can provide a personal and truly tailored service to each of its customers whether specifier, architect, buyer, or site agent. With BIM capabilities and modelling proficiencies Stormking is the perfect GRP component partner.
The perfect prefabrication partner
Choosing the right supplier, who can deliver on time and meet a schedule, is just as important as selecting the best components for a project. Stormking is not just a manufacturer, it is a partner, providing customers with guidance throughout the entire purchasing process and beyond. From choosing the most suitable components, to installation advice, aftercare, and repair services, Stormking provides a holistic end-to-end approach for all its customers.
Customers are also provided with extra confidence when placing an order with Stormking, as being part of the £330m Epwin Group PLC brings complete financial stability at a time when everyone needs assurance and certainty in their supply chain.

Stormking became part of the group in 2016 and since then has benefited from cross functional support in technical and operations, as well as product and employee development functionality.
Sustainable manufacturing is at the heart of all operations across the group, including Stormking’s, with each business having thorough plans in place to continue reducing embodied carbon within their manufacturing processes. Stormking also has its own fleet of delivery vehicles, enabling it to coordinate deliveries to be as efficient as possible whilst being sympathetic to environmental considerations.
The future
The trend for prefabricated, GRP products is growing. They are enabling the construction industry to work far more efficiently, with off-site and modular construction processes helping to increase productivity – and Stormking is at the forefront of this revolution. It continues to innovate, developing new products and technologies to drive the GRP product market forward and enable its customers to thrive.
